Why brands leave Magento
Stop paying to stand still
Magento can do almost anything, but it needs hosting, security patches, version upgrades and specialist developers just to keep running. For many brands that cost now outweighs the flexibility.
Shopify Plus covers most of what custom Magento extensions used to do, with B2B, multi-market and checkout customisation built in.
- Hosting, patching and upgrades handled by Shopify
- B2B, Markets and checkout customisation on Shopify Plus
- Faster pages and a proven checkout
- A large app ecosystem instead of custom modules
- Ready for AI shopping assistants
What we migrate
Built for complex catalogues
Catalogue structure
Configurable, bundled and grouped products mapped to Shopify products, variants, metafields and bundles.
Extensions
Every extension reviewed and replaced with a Shopify feature, an app or a lean custom build.
Integrations
ERP, OMS, PIM and 3PL connections rebuilt and tested with real orders before launch.
Multi-store
Magento store views become Shopify Markets or expansion stores, with currencies and languages set up properly.

SEO protection
Magento URLs need extra care
Magento sites often carry years of URL history: .html suffixes, category paths inside product URLs, store codes in the path and filtered pages from layered navigation. Each of these needs a deliberate decision, not a blanket redirect to the homepage.
We map them one by one, keep the pages that earn traffic, consolidate the ones that do not, and test every redirect before the domain switches.
- Product and category URLs. Mapped individually, including .html suffixes and nested category paths
- Store views. Store codes and language paths mapped to Shopify Markets
- Layered navigation. Filter URLs handled so they do not create duplicate pages
- CMS pages and blog. Content that brings in search traffic moved and redirected
- Metadata. Titles, descriptions and structured data carried across
FAQ
Common questions
Is Shopify Plus powerful enough after Magento?
For most brands, yes. Shopify Plus handles large catalogues, B2B, multi-market selling and high order volumes. Where it does not fit, we will say so and look at BigCommerce instead.
What about Magento 1 or end-of-support versions?
We migrate from Magento 1, Magento 2 and Adobe Commerce. Older versions are often the most urgent because of security risk.
Can we migrate in stages?
Yes. Some brands move one region or brand first. We plan the order around risk and trading peaks.
What happens to our Magento extensions?
We list every extension and decide, one by one, whether Shopify does it natively, an app does it well, a small custom build is needed or it is no longer needed at all. You see that list before the build starts.
Can Shopify Plus handle our B2B customers?
Yes. Shopify B2B supports company accounts, customer-specific price lists, payment terms and quantity rules, so most Magento B2B set-ups move across without a separate trade site.
